Karana is the founder of KOC Bridgss to Peace and the leads the Energy in a Box initiative. He has promoted wind energy in schools and communities since 2009 in the United States, Senegal, Sudan, Kenya,, and Côte d’Ivoire. He received technical training and mentorship from Dan Bartman - a renowned small wind instructor at the OtherPower Institute in northern Colorado. And has since designed and built 20 micro-wind turbines using locally sourced recycled parts in Senegal, Darfur, and Côte d’Ivoire. With a background in peacebuilding, humanitarian assistance, and international developoment, Karana has managed over 200 projects in West and Central Africa. He is based in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire.

Meet the team

Energy in a box is a collaborative effort between KOC Bridges for Peace, which has over 8 years experience building the capacity for rural development in rural Sahelian and coastal communities and Elektra, which specializes in training in the fields engineering .
